Chris Lindberg and Dan Tyler are a songwriting team. They approach songwriting in the tradition of the classic composer/lyricist teams where one is responsible for the music and the other contributes the words. Chris is the composer and Dan is the wordsmith. The songs begin with the music, which Chris creates and sends to Dan with a “dummy” vocal. All lyric is subject to Chris’s approval and input.
“Chris’s melodies inspire me. He challenges me with interesting music and plenty of musical hooks. I feel fortunate to be working with such a talented composer,” says Dan.
Chris adds, “I wanted to write with Dan since I started visiting Nashville but, at the time, he wasn’t co-writing. I persisted and sent him a couple of melodies but he passed. Then, I sent him a third melody I thought was “next” level. I told myself, if he passes on this one then we just don’t hear music the same way. He got back to me the same day and said, ‘Yeah, this is good. Let’s do it.’ And we haven’t looked back since.”
Dan: “I consider my songs with Chris to be among the best I have ever written.”
The “demos” for the songs are recorded in either Nashville, where Dan lives, or in Sweden, where Chris lives. Chris usually sings the lead vocal and often adds harmonies. Musician/producer Rickard Bjorken has worked extensively with Chris and Dan.
The creative partnership began in 2017. A mutual friend, music publisher Anders Mörén of Stockholm, introduced them and suggested they work together. Since then, the songs have flowed in a natural, unhurried fashion. The duo’s goal is to write songs that combine lasting value with popular appeal.
